The Voices of Arcadia: Yuri Lowenthal as Trevor Hills

American Arcadia is coming to Steam in three weeks!

To celebrate it, we are happy to present The Voices of Arcadia: A series on the amazing voice actors who have helped us to breathe life into our characters.

We start with Yuri Lowenthal, a voice actor with a long career in video games; you may have heard it very recently on Spiderman 2.

Listen to him as he discusses his work giving life to Trevor Hills, the main character in American Arcadia: an average man escaping from the world's most popular reality TV show.

Present yourself and the character you voice.

“Hey my name is Yuri Lowenthal, and I play Trevor Hills in American Arcadia. A normal guy who ends up in a very abnormal situation…”

How did you end up doing Trevor Hills

“ It was really a team effort I had worked with this team before, and Trevor Hills was born in a weird union of all of us together. It's been very fun working on this project with actors that I know very well. It was kind of like … you know a team, that I've you know worked with before, and you know and love them because it had a very family atmosphere to it.

What do you like about American Arcadia?

The structure of the game, a lot of it, revolves around Trevor talking to this person that he's never met before. It's funny mentioning this with a game that also has Cissy Jones in it, but it has a very Firewatch feel to it, in a very good way, and he's putting all his trust in this person that he's never met before. Without Angela, it would have been very grim for him I think, and when I first read the script, it had that perfect mix of familiar but different-like, I've seen stories like this before but never told in this way.

I mean it's a reflection of what people find entertaining these days. He's going to get killed because he llives a boring life, but it's not boring! It's just not exciting in the wrong way. People want to see bad people doing bad things to each other…When you think of reality TV that's what people want to see, they want to see people misbehaving and hurting themselves and hurting other people and it's a comment on you. I think that is what we like to consume and what we like to watch.

What do you like more about Trevor?

Trevor is a normal guy with no s adventure skills, and that's what made me excited about going on this journey and, I hope that's what will make it exciting for players to go on the journey as well because they'll see themselves in Trevor.

I think most people think that they're not extraordinary, that they're boring, and that their lives are boring and their stories are boring and if I've learned anything from Trevor, it's that simplicity in life is not a bad thing and that just because your life is simple, like Trevor’s, it doesn't mean that it has to be boring.
